Understand
Build secure conceptual foundations rather than relying on memorised steps or model answers.
Online GCSE & A-Level Maths and Science tuition
Personalised tuition that helps students understand concepts deeply, approach unfamiliar problems methodically and become confident, independent learners.
The Method approach
A student can know the content and still struggle to use it. The difficulty may lie in interpretation, application, reasoning, accuracy or exam technique. Identifying the real problem makes tuition more focused — and more useful.
Build secure conceptual foundations rather than relying on memorised steps or model answers.
Learn to interpret unfamiliar questions, connect ideas and choose a sensible route through the problem.
Practise transferring knowledge into new contexts, rather than only repeating familiar question types.
Refine accuracy, communication, timing and exam technique so stronger understanding translates into marks.
A different goal
The aim is not simply to get through tonight’s homework. It is to build the understanding and problem-solving habits students can take into the next lesson, the next exam and beyond.
Subjects
Tuition is tailored to the student’s exam board, current level and goals. Priorities change through the year, so lessons do too.
Methods matter — but so does knowing why they work and when to use them.

GCSE / IGCSEFounder & Lead Tutor
Method Tutors was founded around a simple principle: effective tuition should do more than help students memorise content or reproduce familiar solutions.
My scientific training has shaped the way I teach. When a student struggles, I want to understand the cause first: is the issue knowledge, conceptual understanding, interpretation, application, problem-solving or exam technique?
Once the difficulty is clear, teaching can be much more targeted. The aim is to build students who can reason independently — not students who need a tutor beside them for every difficult question.
What to expect
Every student gets individual attention, but the process is structured enough that parents know what tuition is trying to improve.
Understand current performance, goals, confidence and where school feels difficult.
Use discussion, school work and carefully chosen questions to see where reasoning breaks down.
Focus on the concepts and problem-solving skills most likely to make a meaningful difference.
Adjust priorities as the student progresses and as mocks, assessments and exams approach.
Tuition fees
Regular weekly tuition is usually recommended. Additional targeted sessions can be arranged around mocks, examinations or particular topics.

Start with a conversation
A short, informal conversation to understand the student’s current position, goals and where support would be most useful. There is no obligation to continue with tuition.
